I wish to again thank everyone who contributed to building
the Habitat House in Winfield. It is impossible to name every
individual in fear of leaving someone out because there were
so many. Contractors and business in the area donated their
time and supplies. There were three partnership churches,
Unity Baptist, Eastside and First Baptist of Winfield that
gave their money, time, and hard work. Other churches prepared
food: First United Methodist Women of Winfield, Church of
God of Fayette, South Hamilton Baptist and the Catholic Church
of Winfield. The teenagers did a wonderful job in the yards
and in painting of the house. In one of the devotions the
pastor said you should not be doing this for your recognition
but for the glory of God and I believe these people did just
that. Most of these workers did not know the family this house
was being built for, but they worked long hours in the mud,
rain and heat to get this accomplished in about 10 weeks.
Workers came from Southern Co., 3-M, Tombigbee Electric, Clientlogic
and Fayette and Walker counties Carpenter's for Christ. All
these workers gave up their Saturdays for a common goal- to
build a house for a family in need. This family also worked
each day along with others. Cingular has donated a phone to
Habitat for Humanity for use each month. Thanks again everyone
for your work and prayers and may all our lives be richly
blessed because of this endeavor.

Letter from new house owner in Winfield:
Habitat for Humanity is a God-ordained organization in that
it demonstrates, in many, many instances, what the Bible teaches
on love, giving, receiving, building, helping, sacrificing,
forbearing, long-suffering, and so on. My experience with
Habitat for Humanity is one that showed me how that the Bible
really is the Living Word of God Living because as I witnessed
each and every person involved in the project of helping to
build my home, I couldn't help but notice God's spirit moving
in the hands, feet, legs, eyes, mind, etc, of the people.
There was absolutely no denying the fact that God was in the
center of this building project, overseeing everything I praise
and thank God for his goodness, grace and mercy.
Sometimes I wish that there was something I could do to payback
everyone who helped build my house, but truthfully no amount
of money could ever being to pay for what I've received. I'm
not just talking about the house, but the entire sphere of
what my children and I have experienced, which is something
beyond human expression. However, I feel privileged and honored
to have met people like Dr. Fred Bryant of whom I could write
a book that would tell of his many wonderful attributes and
dedication. Dr. Fred was the mastermind, leader and SERVANT
over the entire project who stuck in there start to finish.
THANK YOU!!
Also, people like Ann Couch, Jane Guyton, Mr. Bryce, Mr. L.J.,
Ellis, Mary Reid, Wolfin, Bob, the Lowerys, were the core
groups of people who helped this project to become a remarkable
success. Thank You!! Unfortunately, because there were so
many different faces, I can't remember all the people who
were involved in this project, and I say this regretfully
but to all of you from the Veal family, we say a hearty Thank
You because without your support, the house at 524 Mallard
Rd. would just be a work in progress, but because of all your
help, my children and I have been living in this house for
about almost two months and we love it!!
